Emma Lou Huckabay
Emma Lou Huckabay is one of the original founders of HMD. Her work has been performed in a multitude of venues, everywhere from San Francisco to Sacramento to London. Before taking a hiatus from the stage after the birth of her son Hank, Emma had the pleasure of dancing in the work of such well-known choreographers as Gregg Lizenbery, Cliff Kueter, Lucas Hoving, Clare Whistler, and Duncan MacFarland. In addition to her work for HMD, Emma has choreographed for The Magic Theatre and for the Ruth Rosenberg Dance Ensemble, which commissioned four of her pieces. Emma's works have also been commissioned by dRepSF and MacFarland/Whistler DanceArtCompany. Emma also choreographed the fantasy cow-girl fight scene in the independent film The Changing Room, produced by Golden Poppy Productions. Besides creating dances and being a mom, Emma has a full-time accounting job at the San Francisco Symphony. In her rare moments of down-time, Emma enjoys reading trashy novels, taking 20-mile walks, and traveling across oceans.
